Drs. Bader and Pearson established The Couples Institute in 1984 to help ordinary people create extraordinary relationships. They are internationally recognized as experts on couples therapy and long-time members of the International Transactional Analysis Association. Bader and Pearson are the coauthors of the professional text In Quest of the Mythical Mate (Taylor Francis/Routledge, 1988), winner of the Clark Vincent Award for outstanding literary contribution to the field of marriage and family therapy from the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. More recently, they wrote Tell Me No Lies (St. Martin's Press, 2000), which earned praise from professionals and the public alike. Ellyn Bader is a past president of the ITAA.
